She also change the law for woman to be a doctor too. And I think that it's very interesting and important that she change the law, so every woman could be a doctor for now.

In the same Flowgram, please pick a woman who you know personally (your grandmother, mother, a teacher, etc.) who reminds you of the famous woman you picked to write about.  Explain why she reminds you of that famous person.

My Aunt Zeng was remind me of this famous woman, because she was doctor like her. Before, all my cousin say that she was not be able to be a doctor. Because she was a woman, but soon when she study and interesting on it, she believe that she would be able to be a doctor. Now she be came a doctor like her dream, so it's remind alot of my aunt that she was a doctor like Agnaodice and could do what she believe on.

Chinese Immigrants Questions

*As soon as news of the discovery of gold in California reached China in 1849, there was an increase in the numbers of Chinese immigrants to the west coast of the United States. They came because wars, floods and famine had made earning a livelihood difficult in China.

Why did Chinese immigrants come to California?

* The Chinese immigrants come to California because war, flood and famine had been difficult in China.

How do you think the Chinese heard about the discovery of gold?

* I think the Chinese just found out the gold after they were come to California.

Chinese workers on the railroad were fed a Chinese diet including dried oysters, dried fish, sweet rice, crackers, dried bamboo, salted cabbage, Chinese sugar, dried fruits and vegetables, dried seaweed, Chinese bacon, dried mushrooms, peanut oil, tea, rice, pork, and chicken.  This was a much healthier diet than the beef, beans, bread, butter and potatoes of white workers at the time.  The Chinese also drank barrels of hot tea.   White workers, instead, would drink cold water.  Too often this water was contaminated and caused illness among the workers.

Literal Question:  what did the Chinese eat?

Figurative Question: why the Chinese were in the railroads?

The Civil War

http://www.gizmoz.com/video/12291225_Bao%20clip

A period that doesn't seem to be a good time but bad despiration, but a time when we aren't fighting against other country but we are fight against ourself for the reason to understand the right of living. It is understandable because sometime we have to do what we have to do. I myself understand that it hard to live in a world where one man have the right to own another man, is wrongful because this doesn't seem much to me but i love the fact about one man that could create or change and be the different.

The California Gold Rush

1)Then on December 5, 1848, President Polk announced that gold was discovered. This announcement caused one of the largest migrations to the west coast. Over 100,000 people made their way to California. These gold seekers were known as the "forty-niners."

2)Today it might be hard to understand why men left their homes and loved ones and traveled thousands of miles to look for gold. But in 1849, a prosperous farmer might make about two or three hundred dollars a year. A factory worker made about a dollar for working a twelve hour day. A skilled craftsmen made a dollar and a half a day.

3)Eventually, much of the gold that could be mined by hand had been found. Heavy machinery was needed to dig out the rest. Many miners went home penniless--or nearly so. John Sutter left California in 1851, heavily in debt. Miners had invaded his house and trampled his fields.. James W. Marshall, the man who first found the gold, had little success as a miner.

4)Still, many miners stayed. They started businesses in cities and towns or became farmers.. By 1856, San Francisco had more than 50,000 citizens and was the largest and most important city in the West. On its streets walked people from every corner of the world.
